2013

We are now entering our 8th year of business and getting busier and busier (as you can tell by the once every two year blog entries!) So much for my NY's resolution from 2011!  :)   Check us out on Facebook as that seems to get updated more frequently. Prairie Oven has taken on serving hot lunches to one of the local schools here on occasion and we decided to try and go as "green" as possible with the takeout containers and utensils that we need to use for this. They are all compostable and now we've incorporated compostable catering trays for other events that we cater. We are also involved in the local food movement in Camrose through Stoney Creek Natural Foods and have been using local and/or organic: flour, oats, herbs, carrots, celery, rice, barley, lentils and honey. You can find our gluten-free maple cake and brownies at Country Accent which is a local food hub in Camrose but Prairie Oven will take orders for bulk baked goods (including gluten-free items.)

On the greener side as well, we compost all food waste and recycle everything possible with the city and also are getting into vermicomposting. Wriggle, wriggle!

Happy 2011!

Hi Everyone! Hope the holidays were enjoyed by all...

We have started the year off with a few changes to our menus and pricing. As you can see, they are now posted on this site. Our baking lists/prices are still in the works and will be posted soon. Please keep in mind, that we are always open to other ideas when it comes to menus...we love switching it up!

Our goal this year is to host more 'Prairie Oven' events. We are tossing around the idea of doing 'theme' dinners and more locally-sourced dinners too. If anyone out there has a suggestion or two, we would love to hear them!

The other New Year's resolution we have made is to write more on our blog...think it feels a bit neglected...

Well, here's to another year of life & eating great food!

Where has the time gone?

Wow! What do you get when you throw two kids into the mix? A neglected blog.
Here's a quick update since the last post in 2008...we added another son to our family and he's quite the foodie already! Avocado, coconut oil, figs, spaghetti squash...at 8 months old, we can tell he'll enjoy food as much as his older brother.

Prairie Oven has been consistently busy with business lunches during the week, weddings (one of which was a Greek menu! mmm...can you say homemade Spanikopita and Tzatziki!), Fine Wines and Vintage Finds in Camrose, birthdays, retirement parties, Christmas parties and such...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it all! We're looking forward to 2010 and our quest to feed Camrose and area our nutritious and delicious fare.
